We take our CSR (corporate and social responsibility) seriously, so when one of our managers asked colleagues if they would sponsor his two sons who are taking part in next month’s Great Birmingham Run, the company also put its hand in its pocket.
Our technical manager Mike Somers told staff about his sons, 28-year-old Josh and 26-year-old Alex, and Alex’s partner Ali Deeley, aged 26, who are all in training for their first half-marathon, which takes place in Birmingham on October 13.
While staff members are already generously donating to the runners’ fundraising efforts, the company has also stepped up, offering £250.
Mary Vadaie, business development manager, said: “We pride ourselves on our charity work throughout the year, fundraising for many good causes locally and nationally. When Mike told us about his sons’ efforts, we were only too pleased to support Josh, Alex and Ali as they undertake this challenge to raise money for their chosen charities.”
All three runners have setup their own Justgiving pages. Josh is raising money for the Animal Health Trust, which treated his chocolate Labrador Murphy for several months after one of his front legs was amputated due to a malignant bone tumour. Alex, a nurse who assesses people with dementia, is running to raise money for Dementia UK, while Ali, a physiotherapist who specialises in working with patients with chronic lung conditions, is running for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
